When we moved into our Michigan house 7 months ago we started dreaming about our “adult” master bedroom. That may sound weird, but since getting out of the military & going through so many life changes like moving across country, new jobs, losing our babies, & many other changes, we wanted to create a grown up master bedroom that we could unwind in & that was filled with classic pieces that would last a very long time. Before we moved to Michigan we lived right by an Arhaus Furniture that we would visit quite often & daydream about what pieces of furniture we would put into our home when we moved. Well, that day is here. We ordered a lovely bed & a couple of other pieces for our home. The focal point of our room is our bed that we got from Arhaus & I’m so excited to share it with you! The room is far far from finished, but now that we have a bed in here we can finally sleep in our room again & I feel like a princess. Mr. LMB is in heaven because he made the final pick so it’s a win win!
We went with the Barrister Upholstered Queen Bed with platform in ivory. I have no words for how fabulous it is. The detail in person is just insane. The tufts are perfect, the nail heads are beautiful, & the velvet fabric just sets it apart from anything I have ever owned. I have it pictured here with no pillows & our incomplete bedding, but I really wanted to show the bed in all it’s glory. Ever since we were married 8 years ago we have always had a king size bed. With our new room here in Michigan we decided to go smaller & get a queen size bed. The room is smaller & a king size bed really took up a lot of room. We are snugglers anyways so we barely used half of our king size bed anyways. I will be blogging about our new mattress later as well with a full review. Here is the bed right when we got it in with just the mattress on top that I quick snapped with my iphone…
This is my first ever platform style bed & I’m in love! No more bed skirts & annoying junk under our bed. We did lose our suitcase storage because that’s where we kept them, but there are other places for that stuff. It’s well worth losing the storage. The bed is also so sturdy & heavy which I love as well. You can just tell it’s a well made bed & that makes me feel like an adult haha.
You know when you order something online & you are scared that it won’t be worth the price or that great in person. That’s my life. I have fears of ordering online. Especially large items. I am not kidding it’s a thing. I am so happy with this bed & it’s a staple item in our master bedroom “grown up” makeover. I love our Arhaus bed & I’m a true believer in buying quality items & this made me a firm believer in that all over again. I’ll be back with more reviews & updates very very soon. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for more behind the scenes photos of the makeover & more. What do you guys think of our new bed? Let me know in the comments below! xx

We are working with Arhaus furniture on this bedroom makeover, but all opinions & thoughts are my own.
Love that bed. And I also like the black accents you are using in the room. The rug is gorgeous! Now time for you to take a good nap or two and let us know how you like the mattress!!
I LOVE that headboard! looks gorgeous!

I have loved these Arhaus upholstered beds since I first laid eyes on them, and still want one, especially after hearing your rave review! They look so luxurious, and with as much time as people spend sleeping, I’m convincing myself that it’s an “investment”, right? 😉
LOVE. That bed is gorgeous – I think I might want one too! That chandelier is pretty great as well. Love how your room is coming along. 🙂
That headboard is to die for! I am excited soon to start on our bedroom, and I really want something similar, but at the moment the price points are a bit beyond our budget. I’m considering DIYing one though! But gorgeous though it is, I won’t use velvet – our two cats love nothing more than walking along the top of our bed and rubbing their furry little selves on it, and velvet would pretty soon look like an animal itself! Lol!
Looking gorgeous so far girl!!
Wow! Looks beautiful 🙂 I don’t know how that light color would do in our house… I don’t dust nearly enough 😛 It’s so funny how exciting new “adult” furniture is when you get older. My hubs and I got married last June and our king bed has been the best decision we’ve ever made… I don’t think I could ever do a smaller bed now!! 🙂
Lovely! I’m looking forward to your review on that big rug. I’ve been eyeballing that big rug at Target for our living room!
Thanks!
Wow I just love it so much Liz! Great job and that luxurious frame is to die for!!
Wow! Liz Marie that is probably the most ridiculously gorgeous bed I have ever seen! Drooling over here!
Hi!! Love this bed and we are in the market for a new one.
We are trying to stay away from VOCs and generally create a healthy environment for our young family. I know a lot of foam products are consider toxic in this sense. Did you happen to do any research on this for the upholstered bed? Any info greatly appreciated!!!
Congrats in the new purchase, so lovely.
The bed is so beautiful! I love the details on it and the bedding you chose. How fresh!

Love it!
Did you paint the nightstands yourself? If so, can you share what color grey you used? Thank you!
Hey,
Someway …somehow, I got to your blog tonight. Love it, and your style.
Not to go back to the past, but i love that fox and hare rustic bed comforter. And love that makeover in general. Where did you get that comforter….?
Lastly, I was totally shocked that you are in Grand Rapids… welcome to craft beer city USA. If you still have the comforter, I will come over and pay you for it. : )
And, with some spare time on your hands, I will send you pics of my condo and you can do a lil designing.
I am sure you are only 10 minutes away. I have an african impala in the living room.
Thanks. Rick
