Wow! You guys. There have been SO many changes around our house lately. Some big, some small, but all of them I am loving so far. Most of the changes we have made in the past week have been in our upstairs living room & I’m finally thinking.. this room is really looking like Liz Marie. Both Mr. LMB & I sat in the room late Saturday night after we had worked tirelessly all day on it & said.. wow.. this room is finally “us”. That may seem funny because I truly liked the living room before, but I think I was holding back. Who knows why.. but Liz Marie is back. I’m just sharing a sort of small change in the living room today, but you know the big ones are coming soon… & I’m excited. The living room is FAR from done, but the changes need to be documented. Our little cottage is our cozy oasis even when it’s unfinished & constantly being worked on…
Here was the living room a little while ago…
Not bad at all, & actually ALL of this stuff is still in the room! It’s just switched around. Oh, I lied, that lamp is no longer in the room, but I love the new lamp much better. I hope through my blog if I don’t do anything else I inspire you to decorate your homes the way you want to & so that you love your spaces. Often times we think what would other people like, what is in style, & so on. Those can be useful to help us, but ultimately your home should be a reflection of you and your style. I can’t wait to show you where we hung the Cottage on Tyler sign in this room!
So what is this awesome piece of art that we hung above our couch? Well, it’s a piece we found while out junkin’ one day that used to hang on a church. The second I saw it I knew it had to be ours. It was just what I had been looking for. & I always kind of knew I wanted it above the couch but refrained for a few months because of the “card catalog” situation that I will address later [I know it’s the big “white elephant” in the room. Yes, I painted it, & yes I actually LOVE it now.. more on that later.] Anyways, this weekend we moved those windows somewhere else, more on that later too.. wow I’m super annoying always saying that. & we hung this heavy bad boy up using some heavy duty anchors. Jose & I both said how much we love the simplicity and how clean the space looks now. Sometimes changing your space is good for the soul. With everything we are going through now, this bright clean spot just calms us.
So there is one change in our living room as of this week, & it’s inspired me to work more on this room & “finish” it… if that’s ever possible. Hope you guys like our new “old” antique art. We have been doing a little research on the sign & it’s so fun to think of the history of the sign & the church that it hung on is really special to me. I feel honored to have it in our little house. Let me know what you guys think of it in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
Whatever you do it’s always lovely … happy you are finding peace in your surroundings x
I love your round sign above the couch. The window and sign looked great, but this really softens the room.
I think it looks great, good find. I also like the card catalog from the peaks we can see in the photos. STAND UP FOR THAT WHITE ELEPHANT LOL.
ha!! I see you painted the card catalog!!! Cant wait to see it in its glory!!!
you seriously need to do another periscope!!
Just Luvly! That sign… it was made for behind the sofa. YES!!! We should always decorate to please US and no one else. I am a form believer in that statement. Giggling… you painted it. Go you! Can’t wait to see it in all its white painted glory.
Happy midweek Liz Marie.
Hugs, Gee
Your pillows are grain sack materials. Check out Cedar hill farmhouse. She has a chair similar to yours done in grain sack material.. It would look gorgeous.. Love the look very French..
Material is available on etsy and on line.. Down filling would make it really cozy..
I love what you have done with this room…I too like the simplicity in decorating my humble abode. May I ask where you got your rug? I love the natural rugs, plus it functions as a cat “scratcher”. It keeps them from scratching up the furniture.
Hi Liz Marie, Wow, what a find! The charming church sign looks perfect in your space! Can’t wait to hear more. That said, if you EVER want to sell it (fat chance, right?), I’d scoop it up. I do risk management for churches and it would be a meaningful piece for me.
Hi! LOVE it!! Would you please share where you got the pillow that says “Our Nest”? NEED it :))
Thank you so much!!
