Here is part #2376 of my “cleaning out the garage” series. I blogged last about the beehive end table [here] & in that post I shared that we were cleaning out our garage & that means getting rid of my hoard. I made the beehive table out of all things that were in my garage & thankfully that helped clear out a few things. Well, we are back at it again today. I found these cubbies in our garage the other day & they were not in the best shape so I decided to give them a little makeover…
All I did to give the cubbies a makeover is clean them up a little & I decided to use spray paint because cubbies kind of suck to paint by hand. Just being honest. These cubbies took about 4 cans of spray paint & I used Rustoleum matte in castle rock for the color. I love the look of matte spray paint. If you are planning a painting project like this one don’t rule out matte spray paint, I really like the look & it isn’t your momma’s spray paint. I think spray paint gets a bad reputation, but if done right I think it makes for a great paint option in my humble opinion. I found mine at Home Depot, but I know most places that sell spray paint sell matte spray paint. Here is how the piece looked like before I got my hands on it…
This is an awful photo of the piece before, but it had TONS of discoloration & just wasn’t that pretty of a piece. Also, I decided to have it lying the other way when I was done with it. So a few coats of the rustoleum castle rock matte paint & flipping her on her side she looked a little like this…
I styled the cubbies with some greenery I’ve had from Michaels along with some boxes from there as well. The corbels, books, window, fan, & pots are all junkin’ finds. I do love my cubbies, but I think I’m bringing these babies to the store [The Found Cottage] because I really don’t want to hoard all the cubbies, I think they should find another good home that has room for them. But I did have fun styling them & playing with them for a few days now. Cubbies are always a good idea & could be used for so many different things! What do you think of this furniture makeover? Do you have cubbies in your house? What do you use them for? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today & supporting all my little DIY adventures, it means a lot! Back to cleaning out that garage of ours… xx
