This morning I took a quick break from the inside of our house with all of the projects. Jose & I are actually trying to take things a little slower & not stress ourselves over projects. We have jobs, school, friends, family, & the last thing we want is our farmhouse which is our sanctuary to stress us out. So we have been making conscious decisions to take breaks in projects like today when I put the paint brush down & hung up a light I have been meaning to hang for about a year now. We got this light in our last house & just never hung it, but now we had the perfect place on our porch…
I’m obsessed with this basket light [click here to purchase it yourself]. The light is a plug-in light & that is perfect for this space where our daybed is on the porch since there is no electricity run to the ceiling. We had to make a few adjustments to the light to hang it on the ceiling. We basically took off the light canopy & the rope & drilled the board with the basket lights on it directly to the ceiling. We did this for a few reasons, but the main one was because it would hang too low with the rope. We then ran the chord down the side of the house & plugged it in by the daybed. I may do something later to conceal it better, but for now since the porch is far from done it doesn’t bother me that much. Ok, it does, but it can wait. I love the glow of the light out there now & how cozy it makes the space! Here is how the light looked with the rope..
This light would be great over a dining table, in a craft room, mud room, kids room, & seriously anywhere. It’s not terribly heavy which is great too, but I was very impressed with the quality & how it looked in person. I want to put a potting bench up here on the porch so I think that will be perfect with this light too. I took some photos of it during the day & some in the evening while I was outside enjoying the rain…
& at night…
I hope you guys like this light as much as I do.. it’s kind of perfect for our little porch. Now if only I could get my head on straight & decide how I want to style this space. For now it’s just kind of a beautiful mess of things I had for the porch all put together, one thing at a time right? It’s honestly the most cozy little space already & I hope that translates in photos. If I could, I would have you all over for coffee in this space, but since that isn’t possible, I hope these photos will do. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & as always be sure to follow me on Facebook & Instagram to keep up with me behind the scenes.

Not only do I love this porch light but the way you decorated your porch!!!!!! I want it all!!
Yay!!! So glad you like it!!! I love it.. there are so many light options, but this one just fits so perfect.
Loving that tall, cubby piece you’ve got off to the side! …And you should get some of those cool, Edison bulbs for that fixture; they’d make it even cooler!
The idea to use the baskets for the lighting is just ingenious. Hats off to your decor skills. The settings look brilliant Liz.
