Oh my goodness I never thought I would see this day. We have kitchen cabinets you guys! Well sort of. They aren’t all in yet & they aren’t all finished, BUT it’s a start & I wanted to share that with you guys today. We wanted the kitchen to be super simple & have lots of those cozy cottage vibes that we love so much & to really let all of the windows in the space that look out onto our property to really take the center stage. So, this is what it looks like today before paint, counters, lighting, appliances, decor, & all of that fun stuff…
Looking more like a kitchen!! We got our cabinets from West Michigan Lumber here near us [If you are local to me & building or remodeling, I HIGHLY recommend visiting their kitchen & bath studio to work with them there on your spaces]. They are Holiday cabinets. In the whitest white color they have with a shaker style cabinet with a small moulding in the inset of the shaker moulding for a little added detail. We went with a card catalog style hardware that I’ve had for years just waiting for us to have a kitchen to add it to. We also made the decision to go with inset doors & drawers on the cabinets which made a huge difference. Basically, with the feet & inset doors I really wanted the small cabinet area in our kitchen to look like one big piece of furniture. Which I hope comes to life when we get it all finished. We also chose to go with no upper cabinets in this space which was a decision I know that I won’t regret. I will go into more detail about our kitchen and all of the details later when they are all in, but I couldn’t help giving a little sneak peek today!!
You guys!!! We almost have a kitchen!! After 7 months without one & feeling like my life is always a mess… I am SO READY for this. This coming week the appliances will be changed out [not to the final choices, but temporary ones], floors will be installed, & paint will be on ththe walls and ceiling. It’s still going to be a few weeks, but I’m not even mad about it. What do you guys think of our progress so far? What do you think of the cabinet choice? Let me know your questions so that I can answer them in the final “cabinet reveal” post. Can’t wait to hear from you! Be sure to find me on Facebook & Instagram for more behind the scenes. Thank you guys SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today & for being a part of this farmhouse fixer upper journey with us. xx
The vent hood looks great. I really like the cabinets. I know you will love having a kitchen again. What ever happened with the rock wall? I must have missed that somehow.
Love it all. That island piece you found is the bomb!! Cannot wait to see it progress. Have a good day Liz.
Loving it! It’s going to look great when done. I can’t say enough about that Island…❤️❤️❤️
The inset drawers and doors are everything. Look SO good.
This is going to be so awesome…like everything you guys do..?
I love your cabinets and your shiplap walls! That island makes the whole kitchen!! I am still drooling over itl. I can totally picture it finished. Your white stove caught my eye… are you keeping it in this space? I have a 6 burner almond colored stove/oven with matching microwave above it, which I absolutely love, but it’s been keeping me from updating my cabinets to a creamy white. All the kitchens I see in white (or off white) have stainless steel so I’m stuck and frustrated by it. The pictures with white cabinets and white appliances don’t look well because the whites don’t match close enough. If you’re keeping your white stove I’m anxious to see how your kitchen works with it. I love where you’re going with your kitchen. I’m so envious of your entire kitchen! Thanks for sharing so we can make our homes as lovely as yours! I look forward to more pics.
Hi, love, love, love your kitchen design. We keep talking about a kitchen remodel but can’t quite start it. I like how you are doing it step by step rather than signing off on a plan even though it’s drawn out the process for you. I love the no uppers, but wonder if you have a pantry? My pantry is currently tall, so I wonder how I’d replace that if I went with no uppers? Anything you could tell me will be appreciated!
Gorgeous. I can’t wait for the full reveal!
The cabinets are great! It’s going to be a great space. I really like the contrast of the white cabinets with the wood on the island. When are you staining your floors?
Liz-your kitchen is coming along beautifully!!!! Love all your choices. Can’t wait to see it all done with your touches!! Your amazing at what you do. ?
Beautiful! I love how you said you got the whitest of the whites. I told our cabinet maker that it would not hurt my feelings if he used a few less drops of black in his white paint for our kitchen cabinets. My only regret is not thinking to do the inset doors and drawers, so pretty!
What are you using for shiplap ? I’ve been thinking to use that in our kitchen as the backsplash but worried about it getting wet. Are you using a certain sealant on them? Gorgeous kitchen! Thanks!
Will you have some type of swing out shelving for that blind corner cabinet by the stove? The house I grew up in had two of those blind corner cabinets and items would get lost back in that dark empty space. Give Grace a hug for me please. I’m 61 years old and so enjoy following your farm life. Thank you for sharing. Ruth
I want to know all about that beautiful island #Gorgeous?!!!
Oh my! Absolutely gorgeous! Please tell me you’ll share the material used for the shiplap and of course we’ll need a full tutorial on the hood. I think it’s my fave part of the kitchen along with the cabinets, hardware, color, windows, etc. ?
It’s fabulous! I love the feet and hardwareand the gorgeous island!! I’m especially curious about the vent hood because I want to install one above our stove and that is exactly what I want! Excited to see and hear more!! Excited for you to have a kitchen again!
It is going to be so beautiful, i know you are excited cause i certainly am. The view you have will make it dreamy.
