whooohooo!!!! You guys, we are one step closer to someday having a kitchen. As many of you know we have been without a kitchen since February, it’s been pretty intense & honestly a little draining. Cooking, cleaning, living, & staying healthy has been a tiny bit complicated. I am FOREVER GRATEFUL for our home & realize that it’s because we chose to re-do our kitchen that we are in this situation so I am by no means complaining, but that doesn’t mean I am not excited to finally have a kitchen again! These past few weeks we have been progressing more than we have in 6 months because we have an amazing builder who is making things happen & doing an amazing job at that. He has fond leaks we didn’t know about, replaced just about everything in the space, & has helped in the design & the little decisions that are always the hardest when re-doing a space. The space is far from done & we still have to add more kitchen cabinets, paint, add countertops & a sink, add a hood range, do the flooring, add furniture, decorate, & so much more, but you guys…. we have made progress!! Sorry for the terrible phone photos with the bad lighting, but I hope you get the idea….
Just for a reference, this was our kitchen before…
& the sunroom before…
The first thing? He trimmed the windows & shiplapped all the walls in the sunroom so that is ready for paint now when we get to that point. We trimmed the windows to make each section of windows look like one large window & you will really be able to see this once it is all painted.
The next thing? The cabinets have started going in!!!! Yes yes yes! this part is the most exciting for me because it’s actual “kitchen progress”. Other than countertops and a sink… this is the biggest part. We got our cabinets from West Michigan Lumber & I will be blogging more about them & what we chose when they are all in, but here is just a little sneak peek.
This little area above? It used to be a slider door & we took that out and we will be replacing it with a 15 light swing door [we have this door in place just until the new door comes in]. The wall around the new door area was then ship-lapped & I love how much character it adds to the space. The slider door was not very functional in this space so we are excited to have more options now that it’s out. More on that area later once the new door is in!
& just for a reference of the kitchen window before….
& now…
& lastly, but probably the most dramatic change was this kitchen window. If you remember before it was a bay window that was high up & you could barely even see out of it. It had a ledge that just collected a ton of dust & I hated that you couldn’t see anything going on outside in the pasture. We took out the bay window & replaced it with these three double hung windows that allow for maximum visual to the backyard not to mention a TON of light. I can’t wait to get the sink in below this window & enjoy the entertainment of the farm while we cook!
The appliances are all leaving & so is the lighting and that ceiling fan. This room is really moving along now guys! How excited are you to see this space when it’s finished?! We have some big things coming up like that ceiling & the floors… This is the fun part. What do you think of our progress so far? What part are you most excited to see more of? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you guys SO MUCH for being on this fixer-upper journey of ours. xx

Looks awesome!! Just came across your post on Pinterest about your quartz countertops in your previous house and I can’t help but wonder if you’re going to go with quartz again. We are updating our bathroom right now and I’m still deciding on countertops but def leaning towards quartz. Can’t wait to see more! (I love your cats by the way – we have 3)
