Remember this summer when I was obsessed with lemons? Well, for fall, it’s pears. I love pears for many reasons. I mean, besides the taste & how gorgeous they are from the shape to their color, I love them because we have pear trees in our orchard here on White Cottage Farm & that makes me love them extra special to me. The other day I went out and picked a bowl of pears to eat, but first I wanted to play with my food so I created a simple fall pear mantel with my orchard picks & a painting from my pal Holly from Hollyhocks & Hydrangeas…
If you remember our fall garden mantel [here] you know we had moss and a window as part of the whole setup. I left those things there & just removed everything else. I then placed the pear painting from Holly in front of the window & then lined up our pears in front of the painting. Simple simple simple. My only regret is not picking the pears sooner because they did turn a little yellow, but life got so busy that this was the first time I thought of it.
Going out to our orchard always makes me feel closer to God. The orchard only consists of a few apple trees, a few pear trees, a cherry tree, and of course our bees, but there is something out there that makes me feel like God meets me there & washes peace over me. Last year I wrote [this post] & ever since the orchard brings perspective to me. Who knew we would ever live on a farm with pear trees… who knew?! Dreams do come true. Pears are the new lemons & I hope you guys like this simple fall mantel I put together. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & everyday to see what we are up to.. it means the world to me! xx
See another fall mantel of ours…
So beautiful. I love Holly’s designs. Her talented is endless. Thinking of getting the truck or the cow for my kitchen.
Holly has a beautiful and creative heart.
