Today I am sharing with you a round-up of kitchen updates! I wanted to do a little roundup of things we have added or changed lately. The last time I updated you was almost two months ago, with this post here [HERE]. The kitchen is really where we spend most of our time. We play dinosaurs, eat, and entertain all in this one room. So I often find myself adding or changing things as need be.
New Lights Over The Kitchen Island
Do you ever have one of those moments where you have company coming over and realize you need a major piece of furniture (or in this case…kitchen lighting)? This actually happened to me! I had family coming over and realized I needed kitchen lighting! However, it was last minute and I didn’t have time to order any. My dear friend and fellow interior designer Jean Stoffer of Jean Stoffer Design and Stoffer home was so gracious to lend me a couple of lights for the time being. Although I loved the lights she lent us so dearly, I felt it was time to finally order some lights that were our own.
Those lights were finally delivered and I am so happy with the way that they look in here! We purchased them from this etsy seller here [HERE]. You can find our wall sconces that we love so much in a past blog post we did on them [HERE].
Kitchen Shelves & Kitchen Island
This week I took you on a journey while I cleaned our kitchen island & organized it [HERE] & also while I re-styled the shelves [HERE] You can get all the sources for these pieces & shelves in those posts!
Butcher Block Island
By now you all know how much I move things around. I got this butcher block island back in 2017 and I still love it as much as I did when I first got it! We cleaned it up and gave it another shot here and I’m so glad we did. If you would like to read more about the island click here [HERE].
Window Bench
About a month ago now I shared with you that we were putting a window bench back in the kitchen! We decided to redo the top to be a butcher block wood, and I am loving how it turned out! We purchased the butcher block from Home Depot & sealed it with tongue oil. I wanted this space to be more of a bench/plant area so I love the hard surface here more. I will blog this more in depth later.
Our New Oven Range
You may have noticed a new appliance in our Kitchen the past couple of months and I am so excited to finally be sharing with you what it is! You may remember that I purchased a Hallman Range and was patiently waiting for it to be delivered. Weeks turned into several months, I had to come to terms with the fact that the range just might not be in the cards for me. After waiting for months for it to be delivered Overstock randomly cancelled my order which was really frustrating, but got me thinking. I sat back and realized that one of the few reasons I wanted that range was because of the width, with a little adjustment of cabinets we made our gorgeous new SMEG work perfectly. & it went great with our Smeg fridge that we already had in the space. We have many of the SMEG appliances and love all of them so much, so it only seemed right to go with this range. I’m so glad that we decided to go in a different direction than what was originally planned. You can see our range [HERE].
Pot Filler
Just this past week we installed this pot filler for above our range. It finally feels like all the puzzle pieces are coming together. I have always dreamt of having this feature in our home and I’m so glad we finally went through with adding one. Here [HERE] is the pot filler we ended up going with! We purchased it from the same Etsy seller who handcrafted our faucet [HERE]. I feel like its the perfect little quirky french cottage style addition to our kitchen.
Incase you missed it… Other kitchen updates:
Lastly, we freshened up our kitchen with some smaller details. The the kitchen area specifically we moved from Shiplap to bead-board and updated our window trim. After we got everything trimmed in we updated the kitchen colors to Paint Color: Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore. Also a more French cottage/farmhouse style knob on the kitchen cabinets, and we got those Cabinet Knobs: [HERE]. Going further back we added these faux exposed floor joist and added brand new Andersen Windows around the entire kitchen. Check out how much our windows made difference [HERE]. And if you are interested on how we achieved this faux floor joist ceiling, you can check that out [HERE]. We also gave our floors a fresh new paint job a little over a year ago now, and love the new color and how its wearing. You can learn all about how we painted our entire houses floors [HERE]. You can see my sink review & source [HERE].
Do you change rooms based on your needs and the seasons of life that you’re in? I would love to know what room that is for you! Let me know on Facebook or Instagram. Thanks for stopping by the blog today and every day!
xx Liz Marie
