I recently found a dresser that was quite adorable & caught my eye. I liked the height [hello nightstand!] & the paint that was already on the piece was just perfect in it’s non-perfect way. I wasn’t sure if I would give this piece a huge makeover or not, but when I got it home I decided to give it the most simple makeover possible. I debated sharing this because it’s such a simple thing to do, but I figured I would show you just how powerful new hardware on a piece of furniture really is. Here is the most simple way to makeover a dresser on the planet & the cheapest if you find discounted hardware like I did.
& here is what the little guy looked like in our garage right when we picked it up…
& after a good cleanup and some new hardware the dresser is looking like a whole new piece…
I found this hardware at HomeGoods for such a good price last week & I’m so glad I picked it up because it worked great on this dresser. I used two mercury glass style pulls for the top drawer & 4 black and white patterned pulls for the bottom two drawers. I think it adds some interest & character to the piece that it was lacking before. I also gave the dresser a good scrub down & cleaning which brought new life to the piece as well. Seriously the quickest & easiest dresser makeover ever.
I am always so impressed by what a simple hardware change can do for a piece of furniture. Doesn’t this make you want to go change out the hardware on every piece of furniture?! I love this little dresser now that I gave it some love, but I do not have a space for it in our tiny cottage so it will be heading to our booth at Painted Farmgirl this week. What do you think of my cute little simple dresser makeover? What would you use this piece for? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
This is darling! I discovered those Homegoods knobs about two months ago and am finding new things to do with them all the time. Even though I firmly believe that blogging can lead to hoarding I can not believe you aren’t going to keep this little jewel!!!!
What a perfect idea to brighten up my space and DAY!! I may even tackle my kitchen cabinets (maybe not). The next time I see that odd knob or pull at the antique store, it’s mine! THANKS!
I’m so impressed by this idea! When I saw the title of this post I was expecting some painting or even carving, despite the word “simple”. But this is truly such an easy way to renew something.
My first thougt was about kitchen cabinets. I think it can change the whole look of a kitchen. Please post some pictures if you ever try it 🙂
