You guys know that I love a simple makeover & the power of paint. Well, today’s blog post is all about a very simple makeover with a new paint that I’m obsessed with. I went to Indiana a few weeks ago & packed a trailer full of junkin’ finds to bring back home to Michigan & one of them happened to be an old lamp that needed some love. So I grabbed my new paint obsession & did one of the easiest, but most therapeutic makeovers I have done in a while…
Here is what the lamp looked like when I picked it up…
& after I got my hands on it…
Mudpaint has been a really fun paint to try recently. I have tried a million furniture paints & love things about each and every one of them. What I love about Mud Paint is that it’s SO EASY & QUICK to use. I only need one coat typically with it for projects like this lamp makeover. For this project I quickly cleaned the lamp up by wiping it down. I then grabbed a small cheap paint brush and gave the lamp a quick coat of Mud Paint in manor white. I made sure to do a thicker coat because I really didn’t want to do two coats. Call me lazy, but the simpler the better. After it was all dried I was super happy how it looked so I gave the lamp a quick coat of varnish from Maison Blanche, another favorite furniture paint of mine, which I used for the first time on this lamp & I loved how it finished the project off because it made the surface super durable & I loved the matte finish it still had. I haven’t tried the varnish on a larger project, but I will soon & give a better review of it. I stuck a vintage bulb in the lamp & thankfully the lampshade was already stripped for me, I do love this naked lampshade look. It might not be for everyone, but I really do love it. I photographed it in our downstairs living room in an antique tray with some flower pots from Target, A lovely work of art from Deann Art, & some other antique finds.
I hope you guys liked this little lamp makeover & a tiny review on Mud Paint. I’m still a beginner using it, but stay tuned for more posts on projects I do with it. Have you ever used Mud Paint before? Have you ever given a lamp a makeover? What did you do to it? I would love to hear about it!
