Happy Friday!! I’ve been pretty busy lately & not making a ton of time to paint. Well, I picked up a paint brush this week for a little project & I’m so proud of that so I wanted to come on here today & share what I painted. It’s the small things right? I’m sure I’m not alone on this, but when I see things in the store if I’m not in love with them I picture what they would look like if I painted them. For example, this rocking horse I found at Home Goods…
This is what the rocking horse looked like when I bought it…
& now after I put my touch on it…
To get this look I used Maison Blanche french lime paint in white pepper all over the rocking horse & sealed it with a heavy coat of white wax. It seriously gave this rocking horse a completely different look & it fits in so much better with our decor.
This is one of my favorite things to do of all time. It may seem weird to some to buy a new item and turn around and paint it right away, but customizing my home decor brings me so much joy & makes me love the items even more. This is also a great way to decorate for the holidays on a budget! Go out and find some dollar store items or clearance items & give them a custom look to your style with some chalk paint. I hope you guys enjoyed this post & feel inspired in some small way. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by the blog & sharing it with your friends & family. Be sure to find me on Facebook, Instagram, & Pinterest. xx
Come visit our Christmas bedroom [here]
* I worked with Maison Blanche on this post, but as always all opinions and projects are my very own.
Such an inspiration you are Liz Marie. I follow your blog and on ig from the middle part of Sweden. The first snow has fallen and I love it.
What a smart idea to buy cheap stuff and to paint it to get the look you want for your home. And if the taste changes, you can always repaint it again.
A dream would be to visit your shop one day but until that happens, I’ll keep being inspired here.
Have a lovely weekend!
Lots of warm hugs from Sweden
What a great redo Liz Marie!! I am loving your Christmas theme so much, can’t wait to see it as it unfolds

Not only do I love the re-do on the rocking horse, I love the sign about your bed. I’ve been looking for something to place above my bed for years but haven’t found anything. That sign though…perfect. I may need to try and re-create it.
Thank you for all the inspiration!

I do this with thrift store finds all the time. I look for things that have good shape or texture. Everything looks better white!
I love your Christmas decor so much! And what you did with the horse! Great inspiration! Can you fill me in on where you got all your other Christmas decor? Such as your wreath? The little fir trees on your table? The garlands on your “fireplace”? Thank you!!!
I absolutely love it! Beautiful job! I have a few questions (if you wouldn’t mind answering) concerning white paint. Since you are an expert at rehabbing and painting furniture, I was wondering if you would be able to tell me what is the best brand to seal a piece after using chalk paint. I’ve used many wax sealers only to find it yellowed. I’m currently using Dutch Boy paint with Rustoleme clear Wax sealer. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong and would love to know what you think. Have a blessed evening~ Rachel
