Another day, another room. Ya’ll it’s a funny farm up in here I swear. We start a room, & something comes up, so we start another room, & something else comes up.. and so on and so on. It’s kind of comical. It’s always alarming to me that I can design someone else’s house top to bottom easily and organized & when it comes to our own it’s all backwards & upside down. It’s just the way it goes I guess. So, recently we decided to start giving our entryway bathroom a little makeover. I mean.. it’s a tiny little space so how hard can it be? Yah, nothing is easy in a historic home, but it’s so rewarding every step of the way. Here is the space before when we first started to demo it…
& now after we added beadboard to all the walls…
How about that toilet? haha the funny thing is we had that same exact toilet in our historic home in North Carolina… we just can’t seem to get away from it. We plan on keeping it as it adds to the historic charm. We will tweak it a tiny bit, but for the most part…there she sits. I also wish you guys could hear how loud it is once you flush it… it’s adds to that funny farm vibe. We originally were going to subway tile the whole space, but in the end I just didn’t feel like subway tile went with the vibe of our home & the overall cozy cottage feel of our spaces. So, we went with beadboard… I love the subtle texture it gives & it really brings that lovely 1800’s farmhouse of ours feel like she’s right at home in her original era. Jose went with beadboard from Home Depot & comments just now while we were chatting that it was not easy doing this wall treatment in this tiny little space & would not recommend. haha. But for real he used large sheets of beadboard which was no easy task, but so far it’s the exact look we wanted. He is still going to finish up trimming the space & repair a few more spots & then we will put the last coat of paint on and start with all the installations. Jose will be doing a full talk through on this whole process on our farm blog soon once it’s complete.
Next on our list is adding a sink [more on that later], painting the brick floor, adding a mirror, adding lighting, installing a barn door, decorating, & a few other small details that I can’t wait to share! I will hopefully be sharing a mood board with you guys tomorrow of the look I am going for in this space. & yes, we are keeping that crazy looking toilet haha. I’ve been collecting a few pieces over time & I found some finishing touches at a flea market this weekend. Just a few missing pieces & we should be all set! Wait until I show you the sink we are going to order for the room.. you are going to love it! I hope you guys are so excited to see this little bathroom turn into a pretty little focal point in our entryway. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today & for following along with our crazy fixer-upper unorganized adventure… we love you! xx
