OH MY!! First of all finally not a Christmas decor post in the middle of this crazy Christmas season & finally a KITCHEN UPDATE. YA’LL we haven’t had a kitchen since February. FEBRUARY!!! It’s been a long time & I’m to the point of going crazy & borderline depressed. I’m not even kidding. It’s been a journey. With too much eating out, weight gain, having to get water from the laundry room in another part of the house, not being able to do a simple task even like making coffee without 10 extra steps… BUT WE SEE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL! Though I know so many people have it worse than us & I am not complaining.. Just excited to have a working kitchen once again. I haven’t given an update in a while & since then a few things have changed & a few more things are about to change very soon…
A reminder of where we started:
& today with tons of progress…
The first big change? We got the walls and shiplap all painted! We went with my favorite paint in our farmhouse, Magnolia Home in true white. Everything from the ceilings, to the trim, to the walls are in the true white color & it’s the best decision we made. I was going back and forth for a while of doing a warmer white on the walls than the ceiling & the trim a brighter white, but in the end decided on a more cohesive look of the paint. On the walls we used a satin & on the trim we used a semi-gloss in the true white. I am a paint snob [not mean… just know what I like after trying them all] & Magnolia by Kilz is in my top 5 for sure if you are looking for a paint brand to try. You can check out the colors [HERE].
The next update? You guys!! We are getting our counters installed on Wednesday!! That means we can use the kitchen later this week. I could cry. Jose could cry. We could all cry. The countertops is what is holding back running water at the sink, us having workspace, using the drawers and cabinets, & also the plumbing working to the dishwasher. The plumbers will also be here later this week to hook up the faucet and dishwasher… I’m crying. Lakeside surfaces will be installing Cambria countertops in Torquay. I will be sharing our experience with all of them & our countertops once they are installed, but so far it has been a dream!
The faucet that we chose is [HERE] & I’m so excited to see it installed! It’s dramatic & large which I love. We had a farmhouse sink & a faucet with a built in sprayer in our last house, & though I didn’t hate it, I wanted to try something new in our farmhouse. Same with the counters.. as soon as it’s installed I will share what I think of it! Since the last update our farmhouse sink has been installed as well. We wanted to go with an antique sink, but the measurements didn’t quite work so we went with one of our all time favorite sinks [HERE] & I’m so happy with how it turned out! It fit our cabinets from West Michigan Lumber so well… I’m still so happy with those cabinets that I talked about [HERE].
The cherry on top of the kitchen renovation cake? THE FRIDGE! Ok, Jose and I have been searching & researching for MONTHS for a fridge. You see, we had a little dilemma. We opted to not go with any upper cabinets in our kitchen which was all well and great until we wanted to put our fridge in the kitchen. We installed the fridge from our last house & right away I knew it wasn’t going to work. I twas about 10 inches deeper than our cabinets & there wasn’t a built in cove to hide the sides of the fridge that normal kitchens have that have upper cabinets. The side of the fridge [which no normal appliance company puts a pretty surface on] would be the first thing people would see when they walked into our kitchen & it was so deep it blocked half of the cabinets. No bueno. After much research we just ordered this lovely fridge [HERE] from william sonoma that is pretty on all the sides, slim enough for our cabinets, & a vintage style that goes along with the style of our kitchen. Another bonus? We got it on sale this black friday weekend! It also has great reviews! The delivery is estimated between 1-4 weeks so I will alert you guys as soon as it comes in.
The hood range, the farmhouse sink [HERE], the drawer dishwasher with cabinet fronts, the new windows, & the flooring have all been installed. We need the floors to be finished, the rest of the hardware put on the cabinets, the lighting hung, the new appliances, the counters installed, some furniture [like the breakfast nook table for the breakfast area not shown here & a cabinet for the grill area on the other side of the kitchen not shown here] & of course all the kitchen things that normal kitchens have. I will keep you guys posted as soon as we get those countertops in because I know a lot of you have been following closely with our kitchen renovation journey. THANK YOU for sticking with me. It’s hard living in an unfinished home from the outside in while sharing the whole process, but we are making it work! Thank you guys for following along with all the journeys we are on & thank you guys SO MUCH for stopping by the blog daily to see what we are up to. xx

Looks great! The oven door seems so close to the cabinet it looks like it doesn’t have enough room to open. But I’m sure y’all know what you’re doing, lol. Can’t wait to see the big reveal!
I think that must be a mind game because it does have tons of room thankfully!
Seriously so excited fo you! I’ve been following since before you moved to the farmhouse, and have wondered how you could survive so long without a kitchen??
Everything is looking so beautiful and am glad you didn’t “settle” you two are such a special couple it’s nice to see a few things falling into place for you♥️
Wow, going to be awesome. Can’t wait to see the final reveal.
Love all the natural light!
I would love to know more about your hood. I need to install one in my kitchen and am debating what route to go. Thought of building the wood up around the vent. Where did you get yours?
Kitchen is looking really nice! Looks very similar to the Inspired Rooms kitchen. Good luck you are in the home stretch!
Love it all! Simple farmhouse style…. Can you tell me the make and model of the new stove? I love it! Thanks! and Congrats on the remodel!
So beautiful love everything ❤️
Oh it’s going to be so pretty! Light, bright and open. I love the marble topped vintage piece you’re using for an island. So fun to follow along..thanks for sharing your renovation journey on your beautiful farmhouse. ✨
Love your kitchen so far. Can’t wait to see pictures of the finishing touches. You guys have done so much work. How rewarding when it’s finished though will make it all worth it for sure!!
Hey Liz ?
Where is your kitchen hardware from?? I NEED ?
Hi Liz, your kitchen is stunning. May I ask where you got your thin marble counter top piece on your island?
It’s already looking fabulous!! So happy for you & Jose, you won’t know yourselves with a working kitchen. What an awesome way to end the year with a finished new kitchen.
I love it so far! Where did you find that beautiful island?
Sending lots of happy to you both – your vision for the kitchen is finally coming all together and it looks absolutely wonderful!
It’s a stunning space. Love the floors, love the light fixture, the island, oh, and that fridg! So glad you are getting close to completion. Enjoy!
You guys need to go on a missions trip and see how the rest of the world lives. Maybe invest these tens of thousands of dollars on adoption instead.
Should we really spend so much money on house renovations? Why do regular people feel the need to have celebrity level houses? Why do celebrities feel this need? When is enough enough?
There are so many more worthy things to spend God’s money on.
I’m not trying to insult you, I am hoping to encourage you to think about how you spend what God has given you stewardship over, in a God-honoring way.
It’s all coming together little by little, looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing excited to see the finished kitchen.
Love ALL of it…the beams, the ship lap, the island…
That kitchen will be lovely! Can’t wait to see it with the countertops and the SMEG refrigerator! I lived through a 6 mos reno of my kitchen and it was so stressful so I certainly can empathize. But when it all comes together it is pure joy! As a side note, my weight gain from eating out still is a problem! 🙁
It’s so fabulous, you are a very blessed lady and I can’t wait to see it all done! It is going to be worth all the sacrifice for sure!
I like the same color throughout the kitchen – true white by Magnolia Home. Curious what color paint you have/will put on your cabinets.
I love your kitchen! We are in the process of redoing our kitchen – right now it is gutted to the studs! Great ideas and inspiration!
