I feel like this is something I’m really good at. Creating quite corners. This one is weird because I didn’t mean for it to come together like this, but when it did, I thought I would share it here on the blog with you. You see, we are under renovation in areas of our house, and doing some room shifting around here because we are currently ripping up all of the upstairs & the back living room which creates this issue of what to do with the furniture that was in the areas for the time being. Some of it I sold & some of it I have just been sticking in empty corners of our home for the time being until those rooms are ready to be put back together. One happy little accident was this quiet little corner in the dining room…
I started to move this table & decor from the back living room because we are ripping up the carpet in there & I set it all here under this antique window of ours in the dining room. It got me really thinking about how many little spaces like this are in our house & probably your homes too where we can create quiet little corners that we use for a mini office space, a homework spot, a reading nook, or just a place to display some home decor. I’ve said it many times & I even did an entire blog post last week about why I change our home decor up so often [HERE] but here is an example of one of the points I brought up. We live in a fixer upper & while we are re-doing the house we want it to be pretty among the mess. This is a great example because I could have put this stuff in a pile in the laundry room [where there is a huge mess of leftover home decor and other things… embarrassing], but instead I created a quiet little corner that makes me happy when I walk by it. Although it’s temporary.. it’s happy.
A few little details about this space: The table was a vintage find & I’m obsessed with the scallop edge on it! The chair is one from our shop, The Found Cottage. The basket, clock, portrait, & bust are also antique finds. That little tray is from Target clearance a while back & the greenery is all faux from my stash.
I hope this happy little quiet corner inspires you in some way on this Monday & also shows you again that when you are living in a fixer upper it does’t always have to be a mess. when you are re-doing your spaces, create new little corners of happiness as you go. Our rooms may not be finished, but Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & everyday to see what we are up to, it means the world to me! xx
