Wow. It feels so weird to be writing this today. It’s after midnight after a full day of moving so excuse me while my brain is a little fried, but I just couldn’t keep it in any longer. We have been keeping a little secret for a while now… We bought a farm! A farmhouse, with a barn, & some acres to be exact. It’s been a dream of ours since we were first married 9 years ago, but in our military lifestyle & other life events it was just a dream. I won’t get into the huge long story, I will save that for another day, but long story short we have actually been looking at this house for a year now. It’s kind of funny really. Jose started sending me the link to this house last year & I would get so mad at him because it was out of our price range & it just wasn’t a good time for us to move. I felt like it was such a tease because this house was truly a dream to us. Fast forward a year later it went back on the market for a lower price & we were at the perfect time for us to move & we put an offer in. Fast forward two months later…. here we are, farm owners, new home owners, & very excited about it all. It was unexpected to say the least, but in the best way possible. I snapped a few quick photos to share with you today in the madness of us beginning to move all of our stuff into the farmhouse, but you know this is only the beginning of a very long journey & I can’t wait to show more…
We are embarking on a grand new adventure that I can’t wait to take you all on. We are so excited for all of the projects to make this house our home. You better believe I will be documenting every second of it here on the blog, Instagram, Facebook, snapchat, periscope.. ok you get the point. I can’t even contain my excitement! I can’t wait to take you on the journey of turning this thing inside out & having you guys along for the ride. I will be sharing the good, the bad, & the ugly of our whole journey of turning this centennial farmhouse our own. I hope you guys are just as excited for our journey because it truly means a lot to me to be able to share this with you.
The thing I’m most excited about? Doing this with my best friend. We sure have had one crazy journey together with highs and lows. Sometimes I look back at our 12 years together & think wow, we have really done it all, well apparently not because we haven’t owned a farm until now. We have prayed daily to ask God where he wants us & we finally feel at home. I pray we are able to raise a family here & pass this house on to generations to come. But, as we have learned from our journey, it is not our will but His. & for that I am thankful. We get to do the projects side by side, do farm-ish things like we have always wanted to, & share this with people that we love. I feel like I don’t deserve any of this, but I am so grateful. So, since I’m tired & brain dead & I haven’t shared many facts about the new house or what we are doing with our old home, I thought maybe it would be a good idea to leave this open to you for the next post… ASK ME YOUR QUESTIONS! Have a question about our new farmhouse? Ask them below & I will share some answers in the next post about the house. & yes soon we will take the journey inside to see the before & I’m so excited to share that with you guys! Be sure to follow me over on Instagram [here], Facebook [here], & chat with me in the comments below. & be sure to leave me all of your questions so I can answer them! I will be doing before & after post of our current home before we pack it all up and move it out, I did the first final tour this week [here] if you want to check it out. Thank you so much for all your kind words & for being there with us, it means a lot! xx
It looks like the very definition of Americana. Like the setting for every classic novel ever. Congratulations. I’m sure you will make wonderful memories in this beautiful place.
Wonderful house, barn and acres! So happy for you with all that new Space! to put your mark on and ooze all your styles on, It will interesting to see how it evolves in a new setting, I find that the home I live in affect my style, some things just fits better! I get a bit of Martha Stewart Vineyard vibe about this. Massive lavender hedges?
Congratulations on buying your dreamhouse! It looks stunning already but I’m sure you will make it a dream home and I wish you both many, many happy years there.
So excited to see all the things you will be doing to make the farm yours.
It does look huge…and truly what I would imagine an American farm looks like (being Dutch and never having seen an American house / farm). I do like the colour of the exterior.
wow just wow so happy for you really, really happy!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so stunning and I’m very happy for you! Must know if you plan on any chickens and/or other animals? I’m so excited to see you turn it into your home. I hope someday I can finally meet you (I live in the area)…maybe at Haven? It kind of reminds me of the old NOEL restaurant, where my friend now lives. CONGRATULATIONS 🙂
Gorgeous! Just gorgeous. From one farm owner to another, you will always go to bed tired! But it’s a good tired so that’s a good thing, haha! Congratulations!
Ok, I’m willing to live above the garage or even in the barn….I’ll clean for you as long as I can enjoy that beautiful porch!!!! CONGRATS!! You deserve this and so very much more. You’ve been an inspiration to me!
Your adorable little walkway from your home to garage reminds me of Mt. Vernon! The whole place is just perfect and has so much charm. Congratulation on your beautiful new home and fulfilling a dream! 🙂
Congratulations, the house is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see what you do with it 🙂
Congratulations! I love watching the journey God has led you on. This is a very beautiful home and I can’t wait to follow you on this adventure:) Your ideas are my inspiration to think outside of the box. Looks like the perfect home for your creativity!!
I think it´s the dream of everyone, although I’m Portuguese it was my dream ever someday have a house like that, and the most important all the space that you have… Wonderful house, barn, space. I’m already imagining a sheep, goats, cats, dogs, chickens and a few more animals in the farm. Good luck. Congratulations.
Its soooo lovely! I’m jealous of your beautiful home…..but only a little! We too bought our farmhouse with 15 acres and an original refurbished barn. The only downside is the house itself. Its an ugly little ranch house built in the 60s because the owners tore down the original one which makes my heart so sad. We bought it for the land and barn, but someday I’ll be able to remodel the ranch and make it exquisite….that is after our five kids are off to college and we can hopefully afford it, lol! So, my question is what is the biggest project inside the house you think you will tackle first? I have a galley kitchen at the moment and am trying to convince the hubs to do a quick easy update before we do a massive remodel but he doesn’t think its worth the money. Thank you and check out my pretty little barn on instagram @mrsmassmann
Good luck on your future adventures, I’ll be reading up on them:)

Liz. I am so so excited for you guys!!! Not nearly as excited as you two, but probably close? Thanks for being open to sharing all these new things with us❤️❤️ Enjoy the move!
Hello Liz! It is beautiful….the house…the barn…the porches…and the flowers! I see peonies…roses…what others do you have? So happy for you guys! Lori
wow how exciting. That’s a WHOLE lot of house and space.
on another note, I really despise your little math problem to solve to leave a comment. Every single time I leave a comment and answer the problem, the first time I get “Error: Time limit is exhausted. Please enter CAPTCHA value again. Click the BACK button on your browser, and try again.” then I have to go back and do it again and it works.
It looks beautiful! My favorite part is the porch!
How exciting! I know exactly how you feel! While we didn’t buy a farm house we did just recently move after waiting several years of waiting and praying. It happened so quickly for us and somewhat out of the blue. Everything worked out in God’s timing and the house we live in now met all our list of needs as well as wants. Your new farmhouse is lovely and I can not wait to see the inside and what you do to it!

There are definitely a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That may be a nice point to deliver up. I provide the ideas above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you deliver up the place crucial thing will be working in trustworthy good faith. I don?t know if finest practices have emerged around things like that, however I am sure that your job is clearly recognized as a good game. Each girls and boys feel the impression of only a second’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
Hi I just stumbled upon your blog. Your farmhouse looks amazing! Just a quick question: did you have to deal with any lead paint or asbestos? What did you do?
